Default Tank range?

I get anywhere between 145 and 170 before the light begins to flash.. Depends how I'm riding..

Boing an old thread.

My pointy's fuel light came on about 5 miles ago and I need to get home safely to my wallet, which are both about 30 miles from here. Trip shows 105 miles and they've been easy commuting miles. So I'm right in thinking the solid orange light turns into a flashing one before running out and even then I've a few miles left?

That's what mine does. I can get around 45 miles from when the light starts flashing, although I've not tested that to the limit. Furthest I think I've gone with the light on solid is something like 10 miles.

my pointy shows an amber light, which goes on and off at quite long intervals, I believe it then goes solid, but as aesmith says, I think the first indicator is at about 1 gallon left, so a nice steady run home should see you fine, I hope

I didn't make it! Ran out at 141 miles. Worked out i'm getting 38mpg and thats been pootling in and out of London. ??? The bike feels like its running rich at low revs. What would make a Fi bike run rich ? Could this be a incorrectly adjusted TPS? I can see its been adjusted? Air filter is a K&N which I've just cleaned.

Rich running could be engine temperature gauge or lambda sensor, my AL7 is doing at least 70mpg (measured by fuel put in and mileage) so in theory I could do 200miles to empty, I normally fill up with a couple of gallons at about 130 / 140 mile mark. AL7 has ' remaining range' display but I guess that is counting down to '0' at start of reserve capacity, which is assume is 30 to 40 miles ???

K3's are rubbish on fuel. You'll never get it close to the mpg of the newer twin spark, lambda sensor'd SV's

My K8 with the twin spark gets about 65mpg. Not the 75 others have told me to expect if I ride carefully. I did just fit a new air filter though as when I looked at the old one I think it was original to the bike! Hoping that gets me slightly better mpg next tank although 65 isn't bad. Especially when compared to the family VW Passat that has gone from 65mpg to 55 and now seems to have gone down to 45, sometimes less!

I usually get the fuel light coming on at about 135 miles and have never really pushed it long beyond that before refueling. Last fill up light came on at near 160 miles though. Maybe I'm filling it higher recently.
