Yup, that sums it up If you plan on doing constant mods, though, a PC makes more sense- if I had to take my bike to a dealer every time I changed the fuelling I'd not be able to afford petrol, so for someone like me but with a FI bike, a PC would make a lot of sense.

Would I be right to suggest you can also change the timing as well as the fuelling with this type of kit?

I only ask as I used to have a Mazda Turbo which had a link ECU fitted for tuning.

I dont think the timing can be changed on the SV via the PC, just the fueling. Only an idea because thats why you can buy the Woodruff key to advance the timing.

Yes it can, the woodruff key gives a linier advance (same at any speed/throttle louding or rev range/ software option gives dynamic timing adjustment anywhere you want.

Just as a matter of interest, here's a comparison between the power commander and directly accessing reprograming software

That TuneBoy seems like good value and it all makes a little more sense now you can alter the ignition a well as the a/f.

I would have been very sceptical about only adjusting a/f and not ignition.

The TuneBoy is not for the SV though. (Well not acording to their website)

It is noted on the PC website that the unit control timing on only certian bikes, notably the Harleys. It mentions it for the Harleys but not for many other bikes which is odd.

I'm afraid that the stock SV ECU can't change the timing as far as I'm aware. It only allows you to update the fuelling at the moment
