I've seen abrasion and seam burst test results from Cambridge University's CE Approval bods, they didnt do very well at all. The tests were done on the top of the range race suit that was well over a grand and the leather holed faster than a 300 quid pair of Gericke ones. I've also seen A/stars and Dainese suits literally unravel themselves off crashers at circuits all over the UK. They really are not worth the money, unless you buy them for the style and 'designer' name badges

We were speaking to some trackday instructors last year about this, one of them said he sees alot of people who've fallen off and of all the leathers they are wearing Dainese were worst with A/stars a close second. He also said that the ones wearing Dainese were most likely to go back and buy another pair of Daineses. He said he can't believe how gullible, stupid and taken in by the marketing hype some people are. His own pair of MJK leathers are scuffed to hell after a number of high speed crashes, but they've never split a seam and have only holed lightly in one place

Cheers, I guess most of that I can't see on the suit without crashing unfortunately! I ended up with these as I was after a reputable brand rather than these specifically, they cost £400 from the Ally Pally show back in 2006. I guess the leather is presumably of a poor quality rather than too thin (that would be too obvious) hence the holing? I'll definitely try and compare (stitching, leather if possible) to some other makes next time I can, as I never thought it would be of bad quality (hence the reason I bought them - to try and ensure I got a decent suit).

From what I've seen it's pretty good in terms of amount & placing of armour, but it won't help if the suit is torn to shreds and the armour moves!

I have some a*s, crashed in them once and they are alright but I think if I have to buy off the hook leathers again I'll go for arlen ness. They seem well praised. Apparently you can crash in made to fit ones tens of times.

Bad man, you and I know full well that what il Dottore wears is not what you or I could buy off the shelf... if we were so gullible.

Heh, can't help myself

Anyway back to OP, here would be my recommendation (if you want some matching 2-piece that don't make you look like a wannabe race tart)

I use a berik moto gp 1 piece suit (got it really cheap).

Set on ebay (not mine)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Berik-Moto-Gp-...mZ370121407430

Its comfy and protects really well (had one serious crash and not even a mark on them).

They can be a pain to get into and I wouldnt want to walk very far in them but then they are made for riding in.

I bought an rst 2 piece for the mrs and it does seem to be really well made and the fit on her is great.

I guess the best thing to do really is try on loads of stuff and see what you like for yourself.

Can't see prices for them, but they look OK to me, I just want something plain black really.

You won't see prices there... go to the "dealers" section of that site and see if there's any online shops.

I'd be a bit worried about those leathers from the spec
