Default ZZR 250

are they crap or what??my wife is thinking of gtng one but ithink it'll b underpowered ,well the power thing i could cope with .i went to see one tnt and it sounds a bit 'top end rattly' camchain perhaps ??and it sounds like one (or maybe more)of the down pipes are blowing a little bit .does anyone know if it a similar engine to the 400/600 as its far from the turbine like 'woosh'that ive heard b4 when you rev it?if the exhaust is goosed is it a whole new system to replace ,or just the downpipes, and re the 'camchain'noise -is it goodnight for that engine or easily fixed.the bike looks pretty good otherwise but i will walk away if need b

I wouldn't. The ZZr 400 is bad enough. Quite heavy and under powered.
If you can find a ZXR 250 that'd be a different matter, crazy 19,000 rpm redline from a 4 stroke.

find a decent zzr600, the engines are near bullet proof! ive had 2 with no cam chain problems, the down pipes are another story typical kawasaki mild steel and they do rot fast the collector(manifold) 4 into 2 is where it rots but is separate from the 2 silencers which seem to last forever.

the zzr6 also is very "turbine like" the motor is very strong and fast in a straight line but the old kwak is heavy and does handle like a bus.

Ok, the ZZR400 is a sleaved down ZZR600, they are otherwise identical. The ZZR250 is a different bike altogether. Being a 250 it will usually have been crashed and thrashed to within an inch of its life by some spotty yoof!!! They are a fairly rare import, so spares might prove a problem. I’d steer clear ..

The ZZR6 is a heavy beast and underpowered with the 400 lump.

The ZZR6 is a 100hp bike though, if you twist the tube it is a rocket ship. If your wife is new to the game it might be worth going the ZZR4 route, or you are probably better off going for a restricted 600.
