I am more than sure this topic has been beat like a dead horse, so feel free to ignore it or take another whack at it if you don't mind.
I am looking to replace the OEM Dunlop rubber on my 03 and would like to get some first hand feedback on what you are all running and the pro/cons. I am not looking for a track tire, only commuting and sometimes spirited back road rides. Good rain performance is mandatory (not impressed with the OEM in the rain). I do like the idea of multi-compound tires - just seems to make sense. Also interested in mileage/wear expected. Thanks in advance for those that contribute to the thread!!! |

This has been done before and mods might move your post to the tyre section. However I'll give you a first impression on Bridgestone BT21's. I do exactly the same type of riding as you. Mostly along A roads without too many shap bends.
The BT21's haven't squared off and the grip in rain and dry seems good to me. The rear tyre is wearing really well, I didn't record the mileage when I changed them but it must have done 4000-5000 now and looks like new. The front is different though. I would estimate it's done about 6000 now and it is well worn. Don't know why the front is wearing quicker I always thought they wore slower, it also seems to be wearing unevenly on the tread pattern. Quight difficult to explain but where the grove in the tyre runs across the treat pattern one edge is really warn and he other edge isn't and has a large step up. I thing when I need some more I'll try Avons they get really good write ups on this site. Hope that helps Nick |

Conti sport attacks.
Stick to the road like sh*t to a blanket, warm up really quickly and grip well in cold damp conditions as well as warm and dry. Obviously, they wont last as long but its a trade off. I used BT021 in the past and was very happy with them too. They last a fair while (about 5000 for me) and if kept at the right pressures give good enough feel for most riders too. |

Avon Storms get my vote.
You should really have a look in the Tyre Section I like the Avon's best, the Azaros over the Storms but the Azaros are getting hard to find now. I find they offer the best grip in the wet, can even get my knee down to prove it, and the best tread life too. Tyres are a presonal preference, what I may like you may not. |
