Cool trip. Wish I had time for something like that.

Those 70 kms of traffic lights through the north of Toronto are a distant memory. We'll be departing in a couple of hours for the last leg to Thunder Bay. This will be astoundingly beautiful, following the shoreline of Lake Superior. Superior can be classed as an inland sea, holding 10% of the worlds fresh surface water. The forecast is for sun and a high of 29C. If you don't like the weather in Canada, wait a minute |

Re: Northern Ontario Adventure, with bears and moose
The forecast sunny warm weather didn't appear until late afternoon. So we rode for several hours through a damp, cold fog. Lake Superior is so cold that any air mass moving over it is chilled with foggy results. We
experienced temperature changes of 6C in just minutes as cold fingers of air filled the lower ground. It looks a little bit like Scottish mist. The many inlets would send billow of fog over the trees. By mid-afternoon, we finally had some sun. And arrived in Thunder Bay just before dinner. My friends were waiting and fried up some fresh lake Pickerel. A day of rest and on to Oshkosh. |

Re: Northern Ontario Adventure, with bears and moose
I would love to do a trip like that, most I've done is 3 hours from Portsmouth to Plymouth and then back. That is about 200 miles each way on a sv650s k1, 4 fuel stops and plenty of leg stretching stops.

Northern Ontario Adventure, with bears and moose
200 miles, 4 fuel stops? Did you mean petrol or tea?
I'd love to do a journey like that (Canada, not Portsmouth). Although I'd worry about rain and my clothes getting soaked, the daily commute is grim enough in heavy rain! A colleague has just returned from a driving holiday Calgary, Whistler, Vancouver. That sounded good, but it was missing the bike. |

Re: Northern Ontario Adventure, with bears and moose
Leg stretching stops are normally for food and drink. I was also a HGV 1 driver so I know most of the good stops. Lol
