The joy of worn out bearings is that they are really easy to replace...

I have also just discovered that Suzuki call this a "Rear Cushion Lever", thanks to my brother in Law who works in the trade.

Is it really any wonder I have been complaining about an unresponsive rear end?

Some are easier to replace than others.

I will have to admit defeat at this time, I cannot get the bearing out of the swing arm, I need the wife's help with this one. I struggled with the knuckle, but this is another story. The pain this caused my shoulder has put me back a few days, maybe I will get this out next week. At least putting them back in is an easier job.

New bearings...

Any one know what grade of bearing seating glue I should use on these or if I need any at all?

The next new part, a grease nipple. Why did Suzuki not fit them?

This is a test fit, I have to source a thread sealant to make sure that it cannot come our or leak grease when I charge it.

Grease nipple idea is really cool, saves a lot of hassle in the future.

What is going on with the bearings in the swing arm for the suspension rocker? I tried to get them out and had to admit defeat, which I put down to my poor health and being generally useless. So Carol had a go and managed to get one side out. It took some major hitting with a drift and finally slid out with a rusty slimy ooze of the freeing oil I had to use to get the bearings apart to start with.

The second bearing though has just shattered. The cage that holds the rollers has mangled up and the rollers have all fallen out. the shell of the bearing has broken leaving behind just the flat sides and we have no purchase for the drift. Carol has now admitted defeat and has gone to see a friend of ours who is a retired engineer to ask if she can machine the shell out using her workshop.

In all of my years of fitting and using sealed bearing races in both bicycles and now motorbikes I have never seen a bearing simply shatter like this. Even the bearings I have fitted to old titanium racing bike hubs were easier to do than these. What should have been a simple twenty minute job has turned into a painful angry nightmare for me...

Damn you Suzuki, we are not friends at the moment.

they are designed to be taken out with a blind bearing puller or pressed out using a press. if a shell gets stuck then get a joiners wood chisel and slice the shell or a hacksaw and cut a groove, once you have 'split' the shell then you can 'roll' it up inside and it will just drop out.
