Thin panels and cheaply made doesn't add up to a great package, they are cheap for a reason.

Get your GF a VW polo instead, last longer and will cost you less long term.

true but they go like stink for the BHP/engine size and are very rewarding to drive, there like a gocart and can honestly say mines one of the most fun cars that i have driven, and im comparing to RX8's and punto abarth,911's ect ect

mines about 850kg wet weight with 120bhp so for a car goes all right, ohh and does 40+ mpg

I've driven many many French cars over the years, probably running into 40-50 of them, they are light because they are made cheaply.
They run decent mpg cos they are light, see above.

Not for me anyway, you get what you pay for.

a) it's for his bird so it won't matter if it's quick
b) as above, it won't matter if it handles
c) it's the 1.1, they wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding

as i said unless you have mechanical skill or money then dont buy one, and as specialone pointed out there very cheaply made (mines 2* rated in a crash and 0* for children and pedestrians)

i think if you want cheep and decent build quality then a 206 should be the minimum

206 is the best bet.

Mine now 14 years old now 175k miles and still runs like a dream (1.4 still has abit of punt left in it )
Looks nice on the outside and inside so really doesnt even looks its age.

TBH the finish is alot better than on a few friends brand new ford focuses that are only a few years old max.
They can be had pretty cheap to and if you drive it sensibly i can get 600 miles to a tank.

That and the valves are on rockers so an absolute dodle to adjust and parts are a plenty and cheap from ebay or euro spares.
