Re: Stock rear shock lifespan?
Although I'm noticing the rear, I've never had a problem with the feel of the front that some people seem to report. Am I just lucky? I'm about 75kg and not heavy on the front brake, preferring to think ahead a bit and use the engine breaking too.

Re: Stock rear shock lifespan?
On my K5 the front fork seals and stanchions failed at 69k and the rear bearings went at 86k. The shock itself was shot at that point.
Makes we worry as the K8 is at 57k at the moment. |

Re: Stock rear shock lifespan?
After reading this thread I was a little concerned about the shock life so inquired on a,"High Mileage" thread on here,
http://www.svrider.com/forum/showthr...50#post5221650 One guy has replied and has 100k+ on his stock shock I suppose a lot depends on rider weight and roads traveled.Pot-holes and bad road surfaces of course are a killer

Re: Stock rear shock lifespan?
I have 81,000 on the clock of my curvy with the original shock still in. It still works fine, doesn't get out of shape particularly in fast corners (well no more than it has ever done), and generally seems to do the job. I'm not particularly heavy, about 11.5 stone in full kit.
I must admit that I have been thinking about a replacement at some point though..... |

Re: Stock rear shock lifespan?
I saw Bibio's comment on front shocks so when the bike went in for a service, is asked for the oil to be changed in them as the bike in 14 years old and I have had it for 5. Turns out that water had got in and turned the oil to mayonnaise. The bike rides much better now.
