Morphine does the same. Took me days to 'go' after my op. All the french nurses got excited - 'ah ha - cacca - oui oui'

Have been on them (2 x 200mg slow release per day) for 3 years now

Honestly could not cope without them as in constant pain and will be until they fix me out (eventually)

Yep, there are dependency issues with them, if I miss one, jeeeze, I soon know about it

When they get me fixed up they say they will come up with a plan for withdrawal, much the same as Prednisolone (steroid) that I also have to take, lower the dose over many weeks until none required.

Apart from that, they gave me a life back as I was at my wits end with pain so therefore willing to put up with the drowsiness and insomnia (sounds daft but true)

Occasionally have had to take 2 as a single dose, sweet lordy, thats fun, total space cadette for approx 12 hours

Out of curiousity, when do you take them, morning or evening?
Do you start to feel crappy a few hours before you can take the next lot?

I'm on the same quantity but they are 'instant hit' capsules of 50mg each. Most days it works out to four lots of two.
It does mean though that if I'm having a good day I can bring it down a bit and maybe only have one instead of two soem times - or alter the timings to suit.

Always leave myself two saved for just before bed though, no matter how bad my day's been. That way I only feel mildly crappy when I get up and generally manage to sleep for 6hrs straight if I'm tired.

K - I take them pretty regular times daily, one around 8ish and the other around 10ish at night

Was on the "instant hit" ones at first but they played total havoc with me, was up and down like a yoyo in between the hit and the come down, gettin a kind of mad itchy feelin, couldnt stay still for more than a few seconds, crabbit b'stard etc

It was only when in the hospital on one of my many visits that they sent a specialist nurse to speak to me (she deals with pain management) and within a couple of minutes of me describing how I felt on the 50mg tabs, she suggested we try the 200mg SR (slow release) ones so that there would be much less of the instant hit and instant come down

They sorted me kinda overnight but as I said earlier, if I miss one then I soon know about it, you start to get the mad mental wrestless feelin then the pain returns with a vengeance

I was on them for a while after my hip op... Movement was essential to get it to heal, but the pain level unmedicated made movement pretty horrendous, and cocodamol doesn't dent it... I was on them for probably around a month, and they were absolute lifesavers, basically got me up and functional when I'd have been dead to the world.

I didn't have any dependancy issues with them, I had more problems coming off the cocodamol which I replaced them (because my entire digestive system fell out... Most people get constipated on cocodamol, me, my body compensated for it so I got the runs the second I dropped my dosage!)

As side effects go... It made me a little floaty, and it did bugger up my judgement... I took one and a pair of cocodamol one day at work and I was an utter disaster But nothing too bad, I have to say, considering how powerful they are.
