The wd40 provides a thin film/protection of your metal parts. Attracts dirt in no time, but the trick is to plaster the bike with the WD OVER the dirt already there. Builds up a nice crust which you can spray fs365 onto to neutralise any salt/piece of mind Specifically subframe, engine casings and of course number plate

One of the most vunerable places that i give special attention is the bottom yoke. Nasty finish standard and does not take much to go orange. I spray the FS365 down the forks and onto yoke. The oil cooler is a bitch too but was already gubbed by previous numpty.

Does the black framed SV's parts have a better finish? Might be out with the spanners next SV run out!

And here is the official answer from Scottoiler Technical Support, who took about 4 hours to respond to my stupid question. Those guys really are as good as folk say.

FS365 can be applied wither the bike is wet or dry but a fair percentage of it is water which helps it flow into nukes and crannies and then evaporates off leaving an oily, waxy film. I always feel that when the bike is wet, the solution is slightly more diluted, so, I prefer to apply it once the bike is dry as less drips off onto the ground.
You can spray all over the bike (except the brakes, tyres and grips), after you've given the exhaust a wipe, of course.

So now you know...
