That's when I'm glad I've got the Sv, do that on a fireblade and they'll even take your tv license away!

Sorry to hear about this Tom,

Well done for taking it on the chin so well. As others have said, no use worrying till you have something official. The buggers sent me mine 4 days before the 6 month deadline.

Did they have it on video ? (a number of cars have video now - as I found out to my benefit earlier this week).

It's an interesting point, if they don't have you on video, and they don't have your signature anywhere, it does lay any potential conviction open to some pretty heavy "prove it was me" protests. I was once told to expect something in the post, but that was over 2 years ago.

Sometimes they want you to be on your guard. Think about it, if your record is pretty good, and you have no other NIP's in the next 6 months, you've got something pretty solid to base a plea of "it was one foolish incident". If you have 6 points already, and happen to get another before you go to court it won't look very healthy.

Even if they don't file the paperwork, you will be on your best behaviour for the next 6 months, which they may hope puts you "back on track"....

I wish you all the best, and hope you don't get that little brown envelope through the door...

The copper said he had me on ANPR which I assume means he also had a video in the car.

On the upside I have a very clean driving record, I have caused one minor accident in 6 years and that it no points nothing. Currently got 4ncb on both bikes and cars

Like I said earlier the bike is going to be traded for a very slow car.

Somewhat of a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Couldnt you have used a spanner?

when i was done i was given a verbal notification of intended prosecution, thats just how he worded it, and told that i would be summoned to appear in due course, i got a £380 and 3 points, but theyre Isle of Man points, so they dont count when you get back.

i was really really lucky..........deffinately learned a lesson.....mainly that i can t afford to go that fast, and had 6 months to reflect on the possibilities of losing my licence, i didnt get reported for dangerous riding, the cops said that if the conditions hadnt been so good, or id passed another vehicle at that speed that i would deffinately been looking at a ban, and poss immediate court an imprisonment on the IOM, not sure if that was to 5hit me up though, , but it did............thought my legs were gonna go when he showed me the speed gun and told me that the speed limit was 40 and not unlimited as i believed, , the world felt like i was gonna fall of it.

good luck bud, try not to worry till / if you get the letter, i doubt theyll leave it so long if your in doo doo so you may not have to worry if you dont get summat reasonably quick, , then if worst comes to worst get a good solicitor, what they say you did and what they can prove may be 2 separate issued

How fast were you going nemo?
Maybe worth keeping the bike for a while before you rush in to selling it. You may have learnt enough of a lesson here!

Not necessarily... ANPR cameras look at moving images but don't always record it, just the actual reg number.

There was somebody on here that waited for 6 months and heard nothing, I remember him posting but can't remember who it was....

The car was an unmarked but still a quick one, not a full on patrol car as I would know it. If there is a video and this goes to court its game over. The policeman was very angry, I would be very suprised if he didn't "file" it. My thinking is that if this is going down the custodial route I would have been arrested at the scene, or they would have come round to me house quickly. Well if he trying to scare me its certainly worked.

TBH i'm dreaming if I think i'm going to get away with this. I am expecting a 12 month ban and some horrendous insurance costs afterwards, wouldn't be surpised if I have to retake my test(s) as well. I dont know if it been done before but maybe surrending by bike entitlement might help things as well. I will wait for court to suggest this though.
