I sold my car so to get a bike but don't want to spend all of the money form the sale. I was hoping to stick to around 2k possibly could stretch a bit for the right bike.

The one I've seen locally is an 02 plate with 10k on the clock and full service history. It's from a non franchised dealer and it's as reduced to £1950.

I'm in West Cumbria, about 40 mins South of Carlisle. Bit of a black hole as far as travelling to other parts of the country i.e. takes an hour of driving North to get to the motorway just to head South again!

I'm going to start a new thread for some buying advice on what to look for whne looking at a potential bike.

Cheers

It's hopeless, you can go on the coast road down to Barrow and then get on the Motorway but takes twice as long as just heading north for Penrith to get on there. Has it's advantages livign up here though.

There's several bikes for sale on here but you'd have to travel a bit. They always seem to be either right down south or in scotland

Seen a nice one but it's on the Isle of Wight so it may as well be in Australia! Got a mate with a van so will probably just pick a few with a couple of hours drive and go for it.

Hello mate - I tested a Bandit 600 and an SV650S when looking for a bike last month!

Like you i compared the two on paper, and they looked pretty similar! I was leaning toward the Bandit, especially as the Bandit was 4 years newer than the SV650!

After testing both bikes I felt there was no comparison! the Bandit was painfully dull! It did not feel significantly quicker than the ER5 i learnt on and the steering was unresponsive (in comparison to the SV) It also felt as though it needed another gear with which to reach it's full potential! The only plus was i preferred the ride position.

I felt that had i bought the Bandit, in 6 months i would be hankering after a new bike! Test them both by all means, but if you like a little excitement in your life the SV650 will give what you crave!

Hope this helps!

+1 i used to own a 600 bandit and while it is a very capable do it all bike it does have a very budget feel about it, and yes it does feel like it needs a 7th gear. i bought my bandit to slow myself down as the gsxr1100 was awesomely quick but very uncomfortable for me. i would vote for the sv650. dont rush into it, theres plenty out there. good luck

You don't think the SV needs a 7th? you obviously don't do enough motorways!
