ALWAYS take a photo when you get any kind of parking ticket.

I got one in tesco once - there were no spaces and I was late for a meeting so I parked right up against a wall and climbed out the passenger side so as to leave enough space for people to drive past... No double yellows, no signs saying "Do not park here"... etc...

Got a ticket with "Parked in No Parking" as the reason, wrote in saying "it doesn't say that anywhere, look at all these pics I took".... never heard a thing from them.

Luckily this Tesco had a more lenient approach to parking, Paul

I know that the company M+S use can get tickets cancelled with the car park operative. Asda might use the same company. If she were to go and ask the Manager he/she might be able to sort it out for her. They might even sort out a motorcycle bay!

As for not wanting to take up a whole parking space, what about the acres of empty spaces at the opposite end of the car park from the door, why didn't she park there?

If it is anything like my local Asda, they have a sign up at customer services to say they have no responsibility for parking tickets, contact the operator.

TBH I have only seen their parking man there once. Accompanied by 2 security guards whilst he ticketed the disabled bay. My local asda has no dedicated bike parking area. custom dictates that bikes park on the apron outside the store where there are a couple of posts that it is possible to chain up to.

I saw one bike get hit when parked in a bay. Dozy cow thought there was an empty bay between cars, swang into it. Whoops too late GS1200 got it up the chuff

Quoting Tims post as an example----------How can they refute responsibility if they force you to park in a certain area?
I always park outside the store where cars aren't allowed but in a responsible manner,be it ASDA,Tesco,whoever----UNLESS thay have designated motorbike parking which is few and far between

I'm always worried that some dozy muppet will do that whenever I park in a supermarket bay. I tend to find a large area of concrete outside the store and park there, unless there's actually a bike bay.

I got a letter from Tesco once telling me I had over stayed the 3 hour free parking and if I did it again, I would be fined. On the date I had parked there I was about 100 miles away. I phoned and let rip. They sent me a letter back stating they would 'let me off' this time and the incident would be taken off record.

I have also received a ticket for obstruction for parking on a path. I was parked next to a wall and directly beside a tree that was planted directly next to the wall. The only obstruction would have been if a blind person walking down the road walked into the tree. Instead they would have walked into the front of my bike. Livid was not the word. The ticket was balanced on the handle bars. Anyone could have removed it or the slightest wind would have blown it away. I would have then ended up paying more for non payment of the ticket.

Tesco and thier car parking system sucks. They have changed the parking at the Tesco in Newbury. Newbury must have a record amount of disabled drivers as all of the parking spaces closest to the entrance doors are for disabled drivers. That's around 30 spaces. WTF.
