+1,
Next time its raining really hard, take the bike out for a long ride then when you get home put the jacket in a plastic bag in the garage - forget about it for a few months. Then when you find said random bag in the garage you'll open it to be greated with a new horried smell - much worse than smokey. How you get that smell out is anyones guess. |

![]() ![]() I will admit that i had a coat once that no matter what i did i couldnt get rid of the smokey smell. That coat had a sort of rubbery coating over it (Now it wasnt one of those kind of jackets) |

Yup - not a leather jacket but one of my original textile jackets, found it in the shed amoungst all my winter gear and odd glove asortments. It made me weak at the knees when I went to try it on, swung it around my shoulders and got a strong waft of it. Straight into the bin it went.

My old leather stand of smoke for the exact same reason... stored hung up in the front room of some 100 a day smoker.
I sprayed them with freebreeze which did next to bugger all. After wearing them for a few month stinking like a smoker they eventually started smelling like leather again.

See if your local ( and ever so friendly ) S & M Store has leather aroma & smother it in that?

One of the best ways of absorbing smells is "activated charcoal"
You can get this as a natural remedy in health food type stores. What I would try is to get some of those tablets, split the jar into 4 or 5 batches. Put each batch into a cloth bag (or an old sock). Wrap them up in the jacket, with one down each sleeve. Then put the whole thing into a big cloth bag (or pillowcase) and shove it somewhere warm for a week. Something similar worked for me with a pair of curtains from my mothers house. Best of luck. |

Do Dry cleaners do a leather washing/cleaning srrvice?
If not clean with leather cleaner on the outside and a mild baby shampoo sponge down on the inside, leave it to dry naturally outside?

I think you're screwed. Call it part of the jackets retro charm and ignore it.
