Lorenzo seems to be a bit of an arrogant nob tbh...
Right got that out of the system. I hope Toseland manages to get theat yellow (or whatever colour itll be) bike going. It has been very strong towards the end of the season! Which considering the tyers arnt that amazing is BRILLIANT! Hope they keep it up. Worried about the Yamaha, it isnt good enough atm and i cant see it getting that much better. Infact lets face it the yamaha only ever won because of Rossi riding it.. On average every other rider has been well down ![]() Bah Till next season... Then we have a Brit to cheer for COMMON TOSELAND! |

Im on the toseland bandwagon aswell!!!!!!!
And the "lorenzo is an annoying human" bandwagon ![]() The yamaha is observed by many riders who follow them to be difficult. Hoppers is often quoted saying he thinks the yamaha is difficult to ride, from how he see's rossi working so hard on the thing. Its a very nimble bike it seems, which can be excellent at tight tracks, but it also appears to have a slightly harsh power delivery, and not alot of that power (compared to other bikes) To me, it seems very tall and very thin, so like its very...topply, if you get me. Much like the aprilia RSV1000's where always accused fo being, before the redesign a few years ago? Toseland, with edwards as his teammate, should get better and better! His first ride is in a few weeks at malaysia i think Matt |

Oh, and that video...if he learnt proper clutch control, and not to rely on launch control, it wouldnt have happened
Something I'm better at than dani pedrosa, launching it off the line without flipping it ![]() Matt |

Have to agree with the Yam sayings.
Disagree with PH over the need for a V4. or new valves. Big changes never work and the IL4 is plenty for what is required. Even with springy valvues. Ducati won because of the package. Melandri has ridden the bike and doesn't like it. And Stoner just gets faster. Yam just need to go back and have a re think...a new engine could be worse or no better than the old one and you're back to square one. Stick with it and make it work. |

All of the other teams have gone V4, even Honda ditched their title winning V5 when the 800cc category came around. But against the V4's the IL4's cannot produce the power delivery and high revs to truly compete. Another vital factor is that the V4 motor is much more compact which is essential in order to allow chassis devlopment for better handling machines. Honda's 2008 bike has now adopted pneumatic valves and a change to the rider position which is hoped to remove the nervous front end that the 2007 bike suffered with and that Dani was nervous of all season. |

Something I'm curious about, but couldn't find any info on during a brief search, is the sound of the Yamaha GP bike's IL4 engine. Why is it so throaty and deep whilst other high performance IL4 bike engines are all scream and squeal? The Duc sounds more like what I'd expect a Yamaha to sound like, and the Yam has more of a Ducati-esque sound (to me).

Sinbad you are completely correct. Both the Kawasaki moto gp bikes and the Yamaha have a different sound than what you would normally get from an IL4. The secret is simply the "Big bang" firing order which not only produces a different kind of power pulse but that in itself produces a different exhaust pulse=sound.
Both the big green bike and the Yam sound awesome but when you listen close you can tell them apart if you are trackside.HTH. ![]() |

Haa so.
I had considered that, but I thought that all the teams used the big bang delivery. Unless they do and there's another reason why the V4 bikes sound higher-pitched and much closer to the sound of IL4 road bikes? |

I'm not sure of the benefit of the V4. Yamaha engineers must know their onions and they have said that the IL4 can be made with a narrower wheelbase giving better turn. The Kwak was also the fastest bike at Valencia too.
Have to agree that De Puniet was a good qualifiers but poor racer. Hopper will sort it. Look at Rossi...chucking the Michelins away. Trying to get the quick answer. The engine config debate is a non starter for me because if it worked in 990 then it should work in 800. I think Rossis genius was the thing and he won races this year on Michelins and IL4. If it weren't for Stoner and his red dart then he would have won this year too. |
