I think it's got the 996 engine (4 valves/cylinder). It claims to have the belts changed just before 5K miles, does that sound right?

The belt change should be done either every two years or every 12k, whichever comes first. It sounds in that case that it was the 2 year belt change. What year bike is it?

In that case, they should have been changed at least twice. Being changed at 5k means nothing, that could have been three years ago which means they are over-due a change.

A belt change costs around £110.
