What's the most stupid thing you've done today?

i'm sure there is a grey area with mobile speed cameras taking photos of bikes, especially if they're not police officers - how do they get the reg? turn round and write it down?

Yup.
Happened to me twice in one day, last November.

I popped one out(a feeper! ) on entering a lift,instead of on my way out! Got trapped in with the damn thing!

there _must_ be legal implications with that, especially if your registration is not filmed, and you are wearing motorcycle clothing which makes positive ID almost impossible, and if the operators are civilian which goes against the requirement for a Police Officer to judge that a vehicle is exceeding the speed limit. anyone can make a mistake when writing a reg down from a distance.

also i believe they are not allowed to simply film everyone who goes past and must make the appropriate judgements first prior to the filming which is then given as primary evidence if it goes to court and must come from the officer making the judgement either by a verbal or signed statement. the video simply backs up the judgement of the officer.

not only that these devices aren't tested on bikes and they often are used at or exceeding the maximum distance limits, which also questions the ability of a person to judge speeds reasonably from these differences. these devices are licensed to be used up to 1000 ft:

a) i'd question anyone who says they can tell the difference between 30 and 35mph at this distance

b) i'd question the accuracy of the laser equipment and how they can possibly focus it accurately enough not to produce any distance errors.

in short, always kick up your foot to hide the numberplate if you think a mobile camera has clocked you

Started to pulled on the the M3 at J4 north bound, mirror, shoulder check, change lane, mirror, shoulder check, change lane, mirror, shoulder check, change lane.
Beeepppp! Look in mirror some how I've changed into the fast lane and not seen another bike coming up. I was doing 80 and he just 'appeared', god know what speed he was doing. I just can't believe I didn't see him.

Ah yes, but even beyond that they still stand up in court. I was clocked at 1068ft, going away from them... i had a letter from the manufacturer saying they are only accurate up to 1000ft.. but the case still went ahead against me. Lost my license as a result of it.

Picked up the wrong gloves this morning, came to put them on realised my mistake, couldn't be bothered to go back into the house to change them, frozen fingers when I got to work
