Hello all, I'm a newbie who hasn't even got himself and SV ... yet. The deed will be done within the next few days, I've seen 2 that seem to fit the bill, but just before I take the plunge a couple of Q's please.
I'm about to invest in a 650N and, lurking around the site for a few days, the big majority have S's, is this just cos' of the wind protection the S offers, or is there another reason the N isn't as plentiful on the site? (I've got a Blackbird so the SV will generally be for the shorter runs so protection isn't a concern). Is there anything I should be looking out for with an SVN apart from the usual - history HPI, etc? Both the bikes I've seen are pointies (gettin used to the technical terms already) Also I'm in North Yorkshire and, maybe I've missed it, but are there rideouts or get togethers in this part of the world? Plenty of good roads. I've considered all sorts of bikes to keep the Bird company and over the last few years I've had everything from Fireblade to R1150RT to XT660X but having test ridden the naked SV it seems to be just what I'm looking for and I can't wait to get one in the garage! Finally, congrats on a great site - it must be good given the number of threads running at any one time. Be prepared for loads of dumb Q's about tweaking. |

hi mate and welcome , i think the naked is the best looking of all the sv's the pointy ones that is. iv had mine for about 4 months now, the big shock when i got it was the wind blast it scared the crap out of me, my hands went numb cause i was holding on so tight but 4 months on i dont even notice it. got to love being NAKED

Hi there man. I guess the only really difference between the S and N is the riding position, and a slightly different final drive ratio (which you can alter with a new set of sprockets obviously). Engine, suspension etc is all the same, just the S gets clip ons so the position puts slightly more pressure on yer wrists (which I'm sure you already know judging by the list og biekes you've had). Just personal taste I guess. I like the S, especially with a DB screen to kill the wind blast, and I seem to get more MPG than mates with the N.

Hello and welcome.
The SV naked is possibly a better all round bike for riding through town traffic whist being more than able to enjoy the lanes as well. The SV engine is a modern classic. |

Fit a small flyscreen, like the M+P Impala, and the naked bike becomes perfectly rideable at higher velocities.
I've got 2 useable faired sportsbikes and the naked SV, and the SV is my bike of choice for commuting and town work. Come to think of it, it's my bike of choice for 90% of my riding. |

What Lozzo said.
Mines the nicer looking and much cheaper curvy one though. ![]()
