Default Peoples opinoins on this biking discussion.......

After reading this thread I'm intrigued to see what the .org member feel on the situation.

Na, i dont do it. It blinds everyone. I flick the main beam on and off sometimes to alert people, but never have it on reallly. I got blinded today by some stupid woman driving in the dusk (sun not yet set) with her main beams on

I've done it a couple of times in heavy traffic that was almost at a standstill on the M6, it really does part traffic. I dont do it all the time and I'd imagine that you do run the risk of dazzling a driver in their mirrors which might not work in your favour.

I don't do it, it's dangerous.. Seen several bikers do it while i've been in the car and it dazzles the driver so he cannot see where to steer if moving slowly. More chance of a car drifting into your path if you ask me. Headlight and a loud can are sufficient!

I agree with Fizz, I have done it but very rarely as it'll more than likely not work in your favour

Its quite a nutter on visordown at the mo, really both appear to be at fault. High beam is dangerous, i had a moped chav riding up my car's ar$e with full beam on and couldn't see feck all in front of me, as the mirrors were blinding me!

+1 reading that thread they really do seem to be very arsy to each other, not a friendly forum.

but as for filtering with main beam, onlt done it on M-ways in heavy traffic moving slowly, it is sometimes needed to stop idiots seeing you and just changing lanes.

But that bloke was a nob for blocking a bike.

I guess I'm in a minority here then - if I'm in HEAVY slow moving traffic where there's a likelihood of vehicles changing lanes suddenly to try & gain a few yards then I ALWAYS filter with my main beam on.

I work on the principle that if my headlight gets their attention then they're less likely to pull out in front of me.

Sorry guys !!
