Radial master cylinder?

Should I get one, £92.50 delivered second hand. I think ill be getting the later 4 pad Brembo brakes as well at a later date... So what does you in the org think? Should I go for it?

Well I would (and in fact intend to[1]) but the difference in terms of performance realistically is minimal.

By all means though have it for a bit of bling.

Do you find your front brakes lacking? Will the new MC help and how? Did you read this month's PB where they fitted a radial MC to a K1 GSXR1000, I don't think it helped IIRC, but that may be due to specific MC/bike combination.

Personally I'd prefer to spend it on a cheap track day or petrol for a mini tour to somehwere like Scotland. So many people spend shedloads on blinging up their bikes for no real purpose, I prefer to spend mine using it, but if there is a drastic shortcoming (there are a couple on an old SV ) sure go ahead and fix them.

Then again some people prefer fiddling with their bikes, and some a combination of fiddling and riding, I'm more of a rider than a fiddler Although I do fiddle, but that's to enable me to ride.

I'm not sure that's any help really!

My VFR I just ride and is all but stock.

My SV I mostly fiddle with and ride occasionally.

My brakes are lacking a little. I think they probably need bleeding more than anything thought...

As I already mentioned when I see some decent 4 pad calipers im goin to try and buy them.

I do love to ride but with the weather as it is I try to prepare for the better weather

You going to do usual trick of comparing knackered stock stuff with fresh serviced non-stock stuff?

Mate of mine did that, swapped showa RWUs on SV1000 for GSXR1000 KYBs then raved about how much better they were. Of course the 20000miles on same oil had not affected other forks at all...


I would spend no money until I had stripped and cleaned stock calipers and deglazed pads.

Problem is that you cant get servicing kits for brembo parts... Well you can kinda, if you go through KTM... strange set-up tbh.

to be honest I'd just start by making sure what you already have is working as well as it should, the S3 brakes whilst nothing to write home about spec wise are at least as good as the Superdukes if not better (well the S4's ones anyway), and that is "bling" central.

are the brakes different from that aged RSV ? because I've serviced those up and they were much better afterwards?

I've given them a bit of a service before and it did help. I might take them to my local independant and see what he can do with them, see if he can make them work brilliant again.

Same as on most pre 999 ducati's and pre 01 RSV's...

The 4 pad ones on the later RSV's are these:



The later ones are supposed to have the better bite and strength, and if I keep my eye's out can get a pair in decent shape for under £100.

Out of interest what you mean S3/S4, unfortunatly that dont mean much to me

I subscribe to that too. But then that's because I'm a tight git.

If you have money to burn or you are that much of a good rider to need the minimal change, go for it.
