Might be racist or even bigoted and no doubt hypocritical, but

GOOD!

I'm sure the 30 or so people who actually wear the banned version of the veil in Belgium will be slightly inconvenienced...

As Belgium lines itself up as a new target for every screaming nutcase who exploits "the west"'s knee jerk reaction to anything they're not comfortable with...

Well considering the wearing of them has nothing to do with religion, im with belgium.
I watched an interview with some muslim women in dubai i think it was and they admitted it was a fashion choice not religious.
We couldnt be treated any different if we walked into shops and airports wearing a full face balaclava or ski mask now could we, why is this different?

I'm not racist at all, but, if people come to a foreign country, then they must "modify", their beliefs / customs when they come here, if it is for the sake of security etc.

We have all no doubt been on holiday to places where we are told, "you musn't do this", "you musn't do that" etc etc. For example, many countries consider it rude to have legs on show etc.

I don't get why in this country we are so happy to bend over backwards for others and sacrifice our own sense of beliefs / customs. One of these beliefs being that we are at risk of attacks from others, so if you visit / live here.....for the sake of ALL, if it is a security risk to all be covered up, then sorry sunshine....off with the hat!!!! That being said, chance of it happening here is slim to none unfortunately.

I`m not racist either, but I agree. If you go to another country you should live by their rules, not take your own and expect them to change.

If you believe that you are at risk of being attacked (more than falling off your bike), then look to your foreign policy. Security is a red herring...

Hang-on! There was no rule in Belgium to stop them wearing the Burka. They went, complied with the (lack) of rules, and the rules have been changed.

To paraphrase simesb:
" Hang-on! There was no rule to stop us riding over 70mph. We complied with the (lack) of rules, and the rules have been changed."
Life's like that, innit?

Rules do change, its called progress[?] We never used to have to remove crash helmets but we have to remove them when we fill up at some petrol stations.
Perhaps it would be better if it was all facial coverings where by not having any sort of covering[i.e.hoodie] in certain security circumstances.
