First on scene training?

Anyone know of any FOS training in the NW?

I was thinking it may be something useful to do, presumably organised by fire/ambulance.

Ideally I want to do something which includes biker specific first aid, for ride outs or generally if you come round a bend and find someone doen the road.

Google keeps pinging up professional courses aimed at business and I'm sure I heard of free one day courses being run.

why dont you just speak to newts (a paramedic) or me a field medic, i assume its just for your knowlege not for certificates

If I were doing it (not possible, as it doesn't appear to be on offer this side of the hill), I'd need to do a course to pick up the basic stuff as well as the bike-specific stuff.

tbh hadn't thought of that. My first aid is so old and rusty though you'd likely get tetanus off it.

I'm just thinking aloud, but probably need basic stuff on there. I may also suggest it to the IAM group as maybe it's something they want to look at to do as a group wide thing.

Dave i am not a paramedic but i do work on the ambulance service

I have asked around about this course as i was thinking of doing it myself, what i have been told is that it is a first aid course but a bit more in depth with some truma management thrown in.

I think the main part of the course is showing you how to remove a crash helmet in the event of a crash. Of course you only remove the helmet if the casualty is not breathing otherwise it is better to leave the helmet on untill professional help arrives (c spine control )

Even though i have had a lot of first aid training in the past i am still going to go on this course in the near future. It can only be a good thing if you do a lot of group riding
