Give Yamaha a call and ask for a price for an R6 throttle tube.

It'll probably be lots, but when you go and pick it up say "the guy on the phone quoted 'blah blah' " and they should knock a bit off as they're silly expensive normally...

P.S. Not sure which years fit and which don't...

Only problem is an R6 throttle tube is not a quick-turn throttle! It may have a slightly larger cam than the SV's but if you have ever used a proper race throttle, then you realise that any OE throttle tube is worlds apart!

I fitted an R6 throttle tube bought from Steve Jordans for about 8 quid at the weekend and it couldn't have been simpler to fit. Its right on the max limit of the cable adjusters but went straight in. Just phone a yamaha parts Stockist (Steve Jordan Motorcycles) and order one.

I can't see me ever needing a throttle that goes from nowt to full in less than the 1/4 turn the R6 one does

The proper race versions do work better. Most are adjustable too so you can fine tune it to suit your needs. But you do have to spend £ on them. Active and Robymoto are the ones we tend to use the most.

Failing that the Yamaha tube does work but you do have to check the carb or injector butterflies open fully after fitting as we have seen a few that dont!!

Yep, if the throttle stop isn't trimmed on the pointies it'll stop them opening fully. Straight forward, 5 minute fit, on an 02 curvy.
