Live Virtual training courses

Anyone had experienece of these as i have been booked on one the week commencing 21st March. What are they like in real terms? Better than classroom lead?

Apparently it uses some Adobe bit of software which you connect to, a bit like a conference call, then the same on a phone as well so that you can talk.

It sounds all very weird and not sure what to expect really.

Used similair many times, if you got it set up on a projector and speaker phone in a classroom enviroment its almost exactly the same as any kind of presentation except you cant see the presenter. if you are just in front of a PC it doesnt really work too well I find, as unless you are enthralled by the subject matter the tendancy is for concentration to drift andas nobody can tell if you are paying attention or dozing.

depends on which method you learn better by. I'm better at PC based than classroom but both are good mediums. It also depends on how good your instructor is too.

I would say it was a good thing


For the other candidates I mean


At least they wont be subjected to your face

If its a 1 on 1 webex type then I agree its useful as you can take control etc. but I find when someone is just blathering on to a group of individuals and you are sat in front of your own PC its very easy to get distracted. seen it many times people will have other stuff open in front of the window and just unmute at the end to say 'no' when asked if there are any questions.

Edit - by people, I mean less commited people than myself obviously

I was looking at doing one of these for Checkpoint firewalls to pass the ccsa exam, I have heard very good feedback regarding the online classrooms.

Xerox Services manager. I like classroom environment, always have. You can interact properly with people and i just think its better for learning. I have to learn this package and its over 5 days. Discipline is going to be key here.

As i said above, discipline is hard for me, as you say many distractions at home and if im honest, no where really to sit comfortably for 5 days staring at a pc.

I really need to have a think on this.
