Gave my curvy its first proper wash since i bought it at the start of Feb as the weather has picked up, now all the crud has gone from the front cylinder there is a lot of engine paint missing, question is can anyone recommend a good engine paint, halfords do high temp paint would this do.
Secondly the starter motor looks a bit naff can i paint this or does it need to have the corrosion rubbed off and be polished? |

dave if your gonna do the engine best bet is to take it out so it can be degreased mate, failing that you'll only end up having to go over it again in a wee while.
if your gonna do the starter motor watch the connections as it tends to go very brittle and can snap easy-they polish up really well though. |

You won't get a match with any high temp paint from Halfroauds. Manufacturers are gits for not providing the paint code for engines. You can remove flakes and take it to a local paint shop that will match as best possible.....and if its one with the graphite black engine, rather than the full black, its a nightmare to match. A lot of body paint withstands high heat anyway(how do you think a car bonnet stays out in the sun without peeling?) as long as your not using it on exhausts, it should do fine.

Yup, same as my old black sv 'Dave'. I managed to almostcolour match the engine, but not quite, if I'd have spent more time in the paint shop with the hoards of colour charts I'd have got a proper one....would have helped if the flakes off the engine weren't so tiny either!!!
