Default Folding clutch lever didn't fold, just snapped

Hi organs

Quick question, I dropped my bike the other day (accident getting it outof the garage, I know I know) and it snapped the clutch lever which is one of these flippy uppy ones that fold up instead of 'snapping'..
I've had it all of about 2 weeks this lever, would you email the seller and explain it didn't do its job properly? Or take the hit and buy a new set?

I'd say that if the lever is designed to fold up on impact instead of snapping then it's not done it's job - drop the guy a message?

The lever has a pivot that allows it to fold in one plane only - parallel to the pivot - if it is flexed in that plane all well and good.
Clearly the lever cannot fold in the plane that is required to operate the clutch - perpendicular to the pivot - if it is it may well break.
There is no guarantee that it will not break, that's not what the lever is about - the joint is only able to cope with certain deflections which increases the chances of surviving a drop, but makes no certainty.

I cannot imagine a way in which the lever could be constructed such that it could not be broken by dropping it, and certainly not if it is to function in any meaningful way as a clutch lever.
The fact that it broke does not mean there is a deficiency in the lever - you've just been unlucky.
