Question Home servicing an SV - what do I need?

Bought at 18,500miles. Told by garage it just had a service. Now put 3,500 miles on it since June 20 when I bought it as my only vehicle now.

Just wondering what I'll need for the job and what I should be doing, including any pitfalls to avoid. I'm quite handy and I have my own decent sized garage to work in. Might need a few extra/better tools though.

Cheers in advance brothers n sisters!

It may be worth looking through this thread in the same section http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=203344

You need to see what was done last time. Valve clearances are due about every 16,000 so you shouldn't need to do them. You will certainly be looking at oil, and a number of inspection items including chain, bearings, and fluid condition & levels.

Depending on what was done at 18,000 you may or may not need an oil filter, air filter, to change the brake fluid or coolant, or fork oil.

A Haynes manual is worth having, and it's worth keeping a document for yourself of what you've changed at each point, helps you know how many miles you get to tyres, chain etc as well which is good.
