Default Number plate, exhaust & visor - legal clarification?

Hey guys
I know these things have been discussed before and I have read through the number plate sticky thread and some others but its still not very clear as some of the information is old so and some threads contradict other threads, just want some clarification in one place from you knowledgeable lot & our resident officers.

Just having a bit of a debate with my boss and was hoping someone could clear up what the prosecutions procedures & outcomes can be for the following offenses.

Illegal sized number plate

no number plate displayed at all

defaced number plate

Fake number plate with made up REG

Illegal Exhaust.

Illegal tinted race visor.

Thanks in advanced,
Ant

all the above could get you a fine. i also think that if your not displaying a number plate then the police are allowed tell you to park it up till you have one.

Probably a £60 fixed penalty or a grand if you want to risk taking it to court.

Unsure on the 'False Plate' though, could constitute 'Perverting the course of Justice' or 'Fraud' if you use it to beat toll charges or run cameras at speed?

Bollocking, Fixed penalty or summons depending on local force policy or attitude for all but the false number plate. That's nickable and in a different league so don't do it.

Default Number plate, exhaust & visor - legal clarification?

If you lived next to a speed camera and had access to a number plate of someone you didn't like, fun could be had.

Hi guys,
I run an unmarked can that's all, I'm not going to do any of the above but I just wanted to know the correct answers.

Let's say for instance I was pulled over for speeding, and I had a illegal visor , race can and a small number plate what would happen if the officer decided to throw the book at me for the mods.

Would it be a 60 pound fine for each ? Do rectification notices still exists ? If so when are they issued ?
Can points be given ?

I'm still unsure as to what can exactly happen with the above.

So the false plate would could lead to an arrest as I presumed.

Cheers
Ant

Sorry HR I didn't read your post, so when you say summons you mean a trip to court could be issued for any of the above ?
What would be the outcome of that usually ?
My boss is now on 6 points, he still has a race can and if that could get potentially get him three points he wants to remove it.

There's a previous case
"A motorist has been jailed for fitting his car with false number plates, then driving through speed cameras, grinning and waving as they flashed at him.

Company director Brian Beaton was clocked doing 45mph in a 30mph zone in his Mercedes, as well as 71mph in a 50mph area, a court heard."

The 58-year-old mocked police as he went through the speed traps because he thought they would be unable to trace him with false number plates. But officers from Kent and Medway Safety Camera Partnership managed to track him down and bring the case to court.

Beaton, of Gillingham, admitted perverting justice and 11 counts of speeding and using false number plates.

He was jailed for four months and given a 12-month driving ban by Maidstone Crown Court.

Court spokeswoman Rachael Wall said: 'Mr Beaton obviously felt he could ignore the legal speed limit - he was wrong using false number plates.

The small number plate, visor and exhaust offences are all minor traffic and would in the old days all be dealt with by way of a fixed penalty ticket, and none of them are endorsable, so no points. An officer is only allowed to issue one ticket for one offence so if you had all three they would either have to decide which one to give you a ticket for, or summons you to court for the lot. If you did end up in court it's still only a fine, no points.

Certain offences can be dealt with by way of the vehicle retification scheme. In theory the visor and number plate jobs are not eligible, but that doesn't stop some officers from still going down that route which is a result for you.....

Certain forces have now withdrawn most fixed penalty tickets and require officers to complete a TOR (Traffic Offence Report) instead. This is a little report form that the knowledgeable officer completes with all the details of your misdeameanour and then submits to someone who knows nothing about policing to decide if you should be prosecuted, or if they can somehow "divert" you onto one of their education schemes that makes money for them rather than the courts.... (I'm obviously a big fan of this...)

In my experience if you are committing any of these minor offences you have little to worry about providing you are not riding like a prat. If you insist on leaving home at four in the morning on the rev limiter, or completing ten laps of the local roundabout system on Sunday morning then they will get hold of you eventually and expect little mercy, and don't forget all their other sexy powers under Section 59........
