Default Filling up...

How many people on here fill up whilst sitting on the bike (holding it upright so they can get more into the tank) as opposed to putting it on the side stand and getting less in there?

I had a side stand on my last bike and I could get a fair bit extra by putting it on that, but now I am sidestand-less.

Has anyone who sits on & fills up had any hassles with the pump people thinking they're going to ride off without paying because they're not getting off the bike?

I had hassle at a local Sainsburys forecourt, managed to get a couple of quids worth in when the pump was switched off then a voice on the tanoy told me to get of the bike. went inside and was told that it was company policy not to serve petrol until the rider dismounts tried to tell her that i could get more in if i remained on the bike bu she just kept going on about company policy woman she was. anyway never went back not even in the cage.

spudnuts.

Always fill up while sitting on the bike... and have never had a problem with doing so.

If someone did give me grief, then I'd simply just not go back there!

As a footnote, I generally would never use supermarket petrol in any vehicle of mine - especially the bike. They serve cheap rubbish, and I trust the refined detergent fuels offered by Shell, Texaco, and to a certain extent BP.

Saying that, Esso now provide the petrol for Tesco's... but I never liked them much either.

Always sit on the bike so I can get more in. Never had any trouble.

Got told on CBT not to fill like that as I could set fire to my sexual organs.
No idea what they thought Iwas going to do to the nozzle.

Always get off the bike. Always have done. Force of habit. Might try filling it up while on the bike, but isn't it awkward???

I've done both but it doesnt surprise me that some garages don't like it - probably had one too many bikers slip over on the diesel and the like and spill petrol everywhere.

Always sit on the bike and never had a problem.
Once was 'told off' for using a mobile phone inside a cage as it is supposed to be dangerous around a petrol pump! Seriously!
