My Paranoia - SV650.org

I had a really strange problem a while ago and it's making me paranoid.

Stopped at the shops for 10 minutes and when I started the bike again the starter just kept turning (yes I let go of the button.) It didn't even stop when I turned the ignition off and took the keys out!

Massacred the battery, but I limped the mile or so home with no lights, rev counter bouncing all over the place and a handy RAC man following with a big starter battery in his van.

Now the question. The RAC man got it to stop shorting when he wiggled the fuze box about a bit. Not the big one under the seat - the little one with the plastic cover that sits on the RHS under that triangular plastic grille (technical desription obviously)
It works fine now and has for months, but I'm paranoid every time I start it that it will happen again and cost me another £50 battery. Can't find anything wrong - any suggestions?

It was a dry evening by the way, so not rain in the electrics.

P.S. Cheers to those who gave me front brake caliper stripping advice. Silky smooth now

Make sure all of the contacts are clean and not carroded (sp?), if wiggling it cure the problem then I'd say this is a good starting point. Invest in some contact cleaner and give the plugs a decent coating then plug, unplug, plug, unplug a few times.

Wait for it to dry completely before starting the bike!!!
