Give the guy a chance.
As a big F.1 fan, and a Rossi fan, I think it is amazing that he is able to drive an F.1 car at anywhere near acceptable times for his experience. Once he retires from Bikes I think it would make it interesting to see in F.1. Will he be competitive? I really don't think so but what a marketing opportunity. There are plenty other drivers and teams on the grid to keep the competitive interest going........Rossi and Ferrari, for me, would be added entertainment. |

He's already tested the car privately on more than one occasion, this is his public debut. I'm a Rossi fan as well, he is the greatest ever bike rider, but I don't think it is fair that he should be fast tracked into F1 just for a bit of PR and marketing!!
There are many young very good drivers who never get the chance to drive in the premier class, I don't think it is fair on them! All of them would be quicker than Vale but may not attract as much publicity. Do you remember his farcical entry into the Rally of Wales a few years back! Lasted a couple of stages, binned it, and got a taxi home leaving the car and co-driver stranded. ![]() Stick to 2 wheels Vale, you're the master! |

This is all a publicity and marketing exercise with a little bit of enormous ego from your man, period. This was the first time Valentino road in an F1 car with other cars on the track,a whole new ball game. Will he be competitive? Not as long as Ducati race in red!
This whole thing could back fire on him,(maybe not he's not driving a Honda!) as his fame and fortune have been gained from his success.People will soon turn away from him when he is a back marker in F1.(He will possibly get a Ferrari ride but absolutely no chance of it being with the main team) True Valentino has brought many new fans to Moto GP but the majority are bike fans and will only hold a passing interest out of novelty for this F1 crap! ![]() |

Totally agree with what you are saying, but...............
Rossi as young a guy as he is, has nothing more to prove in the bike world and Ferrari are likely to lose thier hero soon and are not looking like being up on the top step in the near future. So what is the answer, bring in Rossi generate interest in the company products (Ferrari, Fiat etc.) generate loads of airtime and money, in the cruel money loving world that we live in today, I believe thats the way its going to go. As for the up and coming drivers, god help them, it is so tough. Even when you are racing in a team you are only as good as youre last race. All of the above, that I have just written, I totally disagree with. The successful teams have continuity and the right people, there is too much grasping to, dare I say it, find the next Senna (or Prost or Schumacher or whoever). Stability and a little relaxation is what is needed.........just like Yamaha is now since the Rossi signing. |

Great Avatar !!
Just read the 'Rossi' biography. Every class of racing he's ever been involved in has started with him spinning / falling more than once before even completing a lap - and look what he has gone on to achieve. Its a great read and really opened my eyes as to what makes him tick and discovering what he was like as a youth. In short he was a real tear-away and not from the sort of background we all associate our hero's with. Just an ordinary kid off the streets - litterally, which makes him so much more appealing. But after saying that - God Bless Ayrton |

Banus - His father was a Grand prix racer and a good one at that, so he had a really good grounding for racing which if you have ability is a great advantage plus consider all the racing connections his dad must have had.

Yeah Banus, I think your's is pretty cool too.
Noticed it some time ago but have not been posting for some time. I suppose we could have quite a bit to talk about, but I guess we would need a different platform. Anyway, as I have said in the latest Rossi thread, I would like to see him in F.1 and would support his efforts. |
