I suddenly remembered the guy who landed a plane in Red Square a few years back (Mathias Rust) and whilst looking for some info on him, I found the following article:

The whole thing is ridiculous. First of all someone coming up with the idea and asking permission to actually do it, and then a senior officer giving said permission. The time and money spent etc.

Only other country I can think of who'd do something quite as silly would be the Australians.
