I cant get the back door open in my flat. Its wooden, with a wooden frame, and i think its all expanded.
Why is this? And can I do anything to shrink it? I wanna get out into the garden ![]() Matt |

That'll be the rain swelling the wood up (remember this from your primary school physics lessons).
My front door does the same - visitors have to be asked to put their shoulder to it if they want to come in! |

My front door, back door and garage doors have been like it for weeks.......don't want to plane/sand them down coz they'll only shrink again. |

![]() Agree with Jabba's warning about shrinkage - I resist as I know there's already a draught coming under the door in drier times. If I didn't think PVC doors looked so nasty, I'd have one. |

OUr place is the same, Use the letter box as a leverage point to grip the door and rip it open and slam it shut in the mornings and shoulder it open on teh way back in on an evening.
Good thing I wear armoured gloves those letterboxes are mean buggers ![]() |

Wait till it dries out again and seal it with paint or polyurethene varnish.
You'll need to take the door off and do the top and bottom of the door (end grain). As its rented, your landperson should do it. |

you could always take a run up and shoulder charge it - that's what's currently working for my garage door anyway. bit much energy expenditure first thing in the morning though i must admit...
