Default Vista (for those interested in it)...

I've kept the title of this vague for obvious reasons, and I won't be providing ANY links to the below (at least in public).

Currently, all activation methods for Vista have been cracked. By that I mean the time expiry before you have to register it, the registration itself, and the "Genuine software validation." I knew about this last week, but the information has gone public

Long live the revolution Get it whilst you can folks

However.......

The current version is flawed in so many ways.

Correcting these flaws will probably require Microsoft involvement, with a result that these cracks will be detected and bypassed.

Recent benchmarks show that games run slower in Vista than XP - so apps may be the same.

Personally stick with XP, Vista is not fit for purposeand probably wont be for ages.

I have to work with Vista (and the server equivilent, currently still under the Longhorn name) in an analysis basis, so when it bocomes worth running Visat I'll let yuo all know

... and the day before the new Vista is released, the cracks will be available again

Vista was released on 30th Jan. I knew about the cracks mentionned above on 1st Feb, they probably existed before that, and they hit mainstream internet users around the 7th.

That's a whole 8 days to go from release, to public crack. The same happened with XP.

Apparently you can install Vista without a license key for a 30 day trial. If, during that time, you purchase a Vista upgrade CD, you can install that over the trial, without having to purchase a full copy of Vista. Microsoft have said that they aren't planning to fix this - presumably because very few people purchase the full version anyway.

And then you can use the trial until 2099 (without buying anything)

Until this amazing Operating system can actually OPERATE at least SOME of my damn hardware...I'm not interested....
Just like XP it doesn't currently recognise or work with most of my kit and it's all high end mainstream kit *sigh*

I think they need to rename it, it's not an OS anymore it's an oversized application.
