Came to work this morning & there were 2 bikes (a fireblade & a moped) on the floor.
Another biker & I righted them. Hooray!. They had the usual fairing damage & sctarches on the exposed metal bit of theirr engines. Boo! The bay is right next to a building site. The street is currently a one way street & lorries/cars reverse down it all the time. It looked pretty obvious what had happened. This kinda annoys me - it could have been my bike. So I went round a few of the buildings & spoke to the security guys. In one building the night shift security guard saw it happen & took down the reg plate of the other vehicle. Result! So I went to my office & printed off a copy of the details for the two bikes. What is the legal viewpoint here: There was no note on either bike. Is this a police matter? It would be impossible for a car/lorry owner tosay they didn't realise as the first thing that happened when we picked the bike up was the alarm went off. |

That really really does make me angry.
I think it IS a matter for the police. They have caused damage and walked away. In my book that is a crime. My car got drove into a while ago and the driver drove away. My nephew saw it happen and I called the police. They came straight away. |

Causing damage to another persons property. Yep it's illegal and police need to be informed. Hope you got the security guards name as he will be a witness if it goes to court etc.

Very much a result and good on you for going to the effort - I'm sure we'll overlook the minor spelling infraction
![]() I very much doubt the driver could use the "didn't realise" excuse as it must have made a hell of a noise (possibly maybe not above that of an artic-lorry though - although that still leaves "due care and attention" to deal with) |

I drive an artic myself and to be honest no decent driver would reverse any vehicle unless he knew exactly what was behind him, in fact I,m always in and out of the cab to make sure no one has parked up or stopped for no reason. You did the right thing mate, nice one.

Nice one, i'd be straight down to the police to report this as the "what if it was my bike and what i would want someone to do" comes into it.
Wish there were more people like yourself around, most people would have left the bikes laying there. Well Done!! |
