Default Sad Story-little boy+minibike = dead

What a sad story. Poor little kid...and his family of course.
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/a...ree/article.do

Well i'm sure the nazi-dogooder-health-n-saftey-nannies will be up in arms calling for an outright ban on these bikes.

But the way i see it is that the same little kid could also have met with any number of other life depriving accidents so its not down to the bike alone is it?

Or is it?

So your opinions please, should all mini bikes be banned or do we need stricter licensing and regulations about age and power?

Opinions please.

Not banned maybe supervision and like they say maybe a few little tracks for kids. Its good to see his parents haven't turned around and urged for all mini motorbikes to be stopped in production. But sad story, RIP lil man!

Sad story, but I agree that he could have died any number of ways- a fall from a tree, a rough tackle in rugby, crashing a pushbike, etc. RIP littler fella.

Well if PJ wants to ride bike then I will let him, though it will be with all the correct gear. I can only protect him so much, as I can I myself.

That's really sad... But I don't think restrictions are the right way to go. I agree with what his parents are saying:

"We believe consideration should be given to funding organised tracks through the local authority or lottery grants so that ordinary people can take their children to use their motorbikes in a safe and supervised place."

Thing is, as with most biking, it's the luck of the draw when you crash as to whether you survive/get severely injured/lightly injured or not (Even with the best protective gear, if you're unlucky it won't help). Many of us get lucky and learn from it, in this case the poor little guy was one of the ones who wasn't lucky.

RIP little biker dude. Sympathies to his family.

'Tis very sad. Why was he riding it on a nature reserve though? A little dangerous. I'm also willing to bet he wasn't wearing proper protective clothing. Why is it people seem to think that as it's a mini-moto you can' hurt yourself? Let's hope this does something to avoid further deaths and serious injury. Poor little fella, RIP.

I have no sympathy or sorrow for this story!!

I can’t believe any of you genuinely do?!!?

A tragedy is when a bus falls off a cliff and runs through an orphanage; a tragedy is when some pervert 'violates' a small child.

I might feel some sorrow is a close friend/family lost their son, but why the hell do/should I care about some little oik I never heard of???

It wouldn't hurt to at least show a little respect for the dead without resorting to that sort of terminology. What's wrong with you? You have a right to your opinion but there are better ways to express it.

Edit: And yes I GENUINELY DO feel sadness for him and his family. The death of a child - no matter who's - is a sad thing.
