Just wondering.
Because of the efforts of Casey Stoner in MotoGP, has this changed your view on Ducati? Are you more positive than before to the Italian brand? Would you now buy a Ducati? The success on the track is there to sell more bikes. If the view is still negative then they are sure wasting their time! |

I would buy a Ducati not simply because of the MotoGP success.. but it does make the brand more attractive in my opinion. I'm sure sales will go up because of MotoGP as people want to be associated with success..

I know lots of very happy Ducati owners, and a few grumpy ones. The grumpy ones have it for me. Until I could be as happy with the reliability of them as with a ricer I'll give them a miss. The 1098 does look nice though, oh and that new super moto thing.....

The Moto GP effort merely adds a little more kudos to Ducati ownership in my mind, as it banishes the pointed fingers and smirks from say Honda owners! When was the last time you saw a mechanical breakdown by a Ducati in Moto GP or WSB? If I remember correctly it was Sete Gibernau at Jerez?
Ducati's are superb to ride and own and I really do not see reliability as any kind of issue today. Yes I had a problem with my 749 after 3 years but I hasten to add that this was caused by human error during a previous service. Having said the above, I am a little concerned regarding some of the warranty issues that have come to light with the 1098 model. Just backs up my belief that when a radical model change takes place, best to hold off for the first 6 to 12 months before buying as any problems will normally arise in that time. I am convinced that if Ducati produced a toned down 800cc V4 road bike, it would sell like crazy. I would love another Ducati and will probably buy one, but a workhorse machine is to be bought first...watch this space............ Last edited by Pedrosa; 22-08-07 at 08:45 AM. Reason: error |

If I could afford to get a decent one and run it, then yes, I'd have one straight away. But not because of MotoGP. If anything, Foggy would be responsible for me ever owning one.

Really did consider buying a Monster before the SV. I know, as Dirk says, Slayer has had mega problems with his but I sat on one at one of the bike shows and it fit like a glove.
Ever since seeing one, I think it was in the film the Crow II, I have loved the image but read all the usual stuff about reliability/electrics so it put me off. Maybe one day when the pennies aren't so tight. |

******** to MotoGP. I'd have one just because they're class.

![]() They can be a bit pricey, but when they work they are awesome bikes, total grin factor!! I wouldn't shy away from one just because of the reliability issues, you just need to be very careful about service history etc when you buy second hand. Mine at the end of the day is 13 years old so to expect a bike of that age to have nothing wrong with it is nuts, be it Japanese or Italian. EDIT -> Oh, and the look on the faces of the Soho Massive when it turns up working every week (ish) is priceless ![]() Last edited by Davies; 22-08-07 at 12:42 PM. |
