It was the A358 Fizz, i could have understood abit more if it was the A39, some of the corners still catch me out on that road and i ride it often!!! But as for the A358, if your positioned right then theres no need to panic!!

Yes.... I agree that we all have to start somewhere and everyone makes mistakes etc but IMHO some people should at the very least not be(should have said would be better off being) on certain bikes on the road.

My intention is no to come across as overly harsh as I've come to realise that perhaps I'm one of those that took to driving/riding like a duck to water.

That said I still get genuinely baffled as to how some riders/drivers managed to pass their test.

From what I've read, the rider appears to be a complete danger to themself and others.
Eight to ten miles is a long time for a rider not to have a clue that someone is behind them.

Worst rider I have ever seen is the childish **** who wheelies past me to do a KD on a busy roundabout. Some 1/2 brain riders take to it like a pig to .... I got nothing against a posse going for it on some twisties but the solo 'look at me' macho crap just p's me right off.

Strange, I would of thought the guy on his own would be just doing it for himself, for the sheer pleasure of enjoying himself. Whereas the posse would be showing off to each other & far more dangerous

But as for what a newbie is im not sure, i class myself as a newbie. I've only been riding 10 months and done just about 6600miles in that time, i still make mistakes and know when to move out the way of others that are far better riders than me.

If she wasn't aware i was there, then for the 8-10miles i was following her backing off, giving her a chance and trying to give her room to do her own thing she couldn't have checked her mirrors once, she must have seen me there up her **** on some of the corners and if it was me or other newbies then i'd have pulled to one side and said you get on with it.

I know what its like, as the rest of you do to have bikes up your ****. It's unnerving for sure, but then for her to go around a corner and slow down ridiculasly to a point that cars are putting they're brakes on too and trying not to go up my **** then it becomes dangerous.

New or not she shouldn't have been riding like that, i didn't when i first got out on my bike. I only went on the roads i knew well, to get used to the bike and corners.

The examiner passed me on my test day knowing i was safe to ride a bike, without putting myself in danger and most of all other road users. After all thats what i thought tests were for ..

sounds like she was quite dangerous, being a driving instructor I wonder the same as you, how do some folk get thru their test. Just posted tonite for example on a near miss I had on the way home cause of some T***. Anyway, if you really are struggling not to go up her *** as you put it then perhaps you should have turned off and took a different route or stopped for a while, I know that this is what I would have done, its not worth endangering yourself

When I did my Direct Access, I asked the instructor about cornering/leaning etc, and he said, 'oh you dont need to worry too much about that, just go with it"

No wonder we come away from passing our tests with very little idea about cornering,.................oh but we can do U turns cos that's so much more important innit! I still do them all the time

This could be a whole new thread about what you need to know and what you get taught, the two are sometimes not the same but the whole idea of the manoeuvres (sp?) is to show good understanding of car/bike control, I have heard of a lot of people that will do anything to try and avoid reversing once they have passed their car test.

I was informed myself, by my instructor, (who went into a bit more detail than yours on cornering/leaning thankfully) that I would probably never use the U-turn again once I've passed.

I did try the other week and nearly fell off ha ha
