No, that's all lies. The real reason is pi55 poor, it is incase you drop your phone, the battery coming out and hitting the deck can cause a spark, igniting any petrol on the floor.

I think it was just a precautionary measure with no scientific founding. They do interfere with aircraft navigation systems though, that one is true
