I greased up the front plug cap last week and I noticed that there are 5 or 6 small holes in the cap which I presume are to normalise the air pressure under the cap. Wouldn't water get in that way anyway? So is the greasing of the cap doing anything to solve the SV front plug problem?
I'm looking at these two fenda extendas I have lying spare in my garage and contemplating having another go at fitting them to the bike before I take it abroad again. ![]() |

Fairly pointless normalising air pressure since there's a drain hole that leads down the RHS of the front cylinder

I live in a desert, so cannot act the expert at this, but di-electric silicone grease dabbed on thick enough will keep water out, and tends to stay in place.
On the other hand, if I lived in Jolly Olde, I would have a Fenda Extender fitted, no matter how it looked. And use the grease as well. Can't be too cautious. |

![]() ![]() As it happens, when I took the front plug out it was subject to quite a bit of corrosion. |
