Default Bolt required for crash bung.

One of my work colleagues bought a gixxer 6 from someone with a broken crash bung. The someone said as part of the deal he would get it replaced but never did.

Does anyone know where or what size the replacement bolt is

A few pics of the bung and the issue with the bolt.

We have already been to Motrax and they typically said they would only supply the whole bung not just the bolt. They were also unwilling to state what size the bolt was.

Generally speaking ( not even I can tell the size or pitch for those pics) it's normally m8 or m10 for frame/engine mounts, then just a case of getting th eright length.

or perhaps a length of stud and run a nut down it ?

Cheers Mark.

I have just thought.

Why the hell doesn't he just take the one from the otherside off and go measure it. Or take it to a shop and ask for one the same.

Doh!

Because they left and right engine bolts will probably not be the same length.

This is where R&G are good - they WILL sell you the individual parts on their own - if that was one of theirs it would cost £1 + p&p.

Now theres a thought - you could get one of theirs for that bike and try it - if its too long by not a lot, well washers in the bung might work.
