An inch is possibly to much hopefully not i will have to go out and measure how much that effects the chain clearance.

My bike currently has uprated front springs with heavy oil but a standard rear sv shock so an uprated one would really help the handling and with 27k on the clock the one i have is probably tired.

If the total cost is under <£80 this seems like a very cheap worth while mod.

It doesn't affect the chain clearance, unless you have lots of wierd mods?

You also need the kwackers bottom bolt. Do NOT just sling any old bolt in there, it will not end well if you do. Suspension bolts are very strong in shear.

Chris the problem with clearance is due to the twin renegades that suicidesam fitted under normal operation they are fine but you have to keep the chain tension bang on. At rest the chain misses the exhaust collector by 1cm when you sit on the bike they miss it by a good inch if you where to raise the bike the chain might hit the exhaust collector.

Is it pretty similar to fit a ZX6 shock to a pointy?

GSXR shock is a more common swap on the pointies

I just got my dad to do mine . ZX10R shock onto my curvey. No issues at all besides the usual cutting the battery box a little bit (and it was a lot less than I thought).

I'll put this is again just for the sake of it. Use a bolt meant for use on a shock to fit a shock, I risk it using an SRAD bolt on the ZXR shock, probably a little weak considering the different linkage ratios, however I would NOT risk using any old bolt!

Just to echo what Chris has said, do not use any old bolt, a specific bolt is needed.

Not only is the right bit a specific strength, but isn't threaded all the way along as in essence it's a pin, it has a thread just on the end so the nut will stop it falling out. Threads here would be bad - stress raisers all over the thing.

Does the bike site lower or higher? The reason i ask is i have clearance issues with my twin renegades
The ZX10R shock also fits and was my preferred shock as the spring is slightly stronger so more suited to my weight. The ZX10R shock allows the standard SV battery to be used, by sitting on packing above the shock reservoir. This also raises the rear by about 1" but ground clearance is only slightly increased.

The problem with clearance with your twin Rene's, do you mean the chain is fouling on the second exhaust pipe or is the sidestand touching down?
