Default Crashed today, need parts

Had my first crash on my SV today.

Was going down a main road in the wet when a van pulled out from a side road (I had right of way) 5m before i reached the junction. I pulled on the front brake, locked the front wheel up and swerved to one side, just missing the guy; ended up on my back with my SV on its side. The van driver just shot off down the road without stopping.

The left footpeg and gear shifter assembly has been snapped in half so I'm looking for a replacement - any ideas where I can find one? I'll probably weld it together for the time being. I also need to do something about the rear indicators because the left one is smashed up; it's the original indicator so I have a horrible feeling that I'll need to cut off all the plastic (it's a curvy) and install an undertray/tail tidy to fix aftermarket indicators.

I've reported it to the police because I have two witnesses (one being an RAF squadron commander on a TransAlp who stopped to help me) plus CCTV of the van as it fled the scene. Hopefully they'll get the guy and I'll be able to take him to small claims court for the cost of the repairs.

Sorry to hear about the off, sounds like your not physically too bad, and only minor bike scrapes. Can't help with bits but hope you get it all going again asap.

hopefully the coppers will want a word for leaving the scene of an accident he caused

*******, hope he gets the works, and hope you and the bike are back to 100% soon

Sorry to hear about ya off mate, are you OK? Glad the bike isn't too bad still not nice tho

If the police catch up with him they should be able to get you his details and IF he is insured then you can claim off his insurance, easier and less drawn out than small claims court.

And hopefully the Police will have him for non stop. There must have been a reason for him not stopping i.e. probably been drinking.

Hope he is found and you get it sorted quickly x

Don't suppose you got his number?

as said if they trace it you should be able to claim off his insurance, although if the cops in your area are anything like mine they won't think twice about doing anything as unless they can give you a ticket for something they don't give a

Thanks for all the sentiments, guys; I appreciate it.

I got lucky and found a left footpeg/gear shifter assembly from a GSX-R that bolts straight on, which was great. I'll take your suggestions for sourcing new indicators.

Total cost of repairs so far is ?25, so I really can't see the point trying to chase this guy.

cause the next time he does it he could well be leaving a biker to bleed to death on the roadside instead of calling an ambulance?
