Can be done without taking the plastic off but tbh its pretty easy to remove the plastic.
The littel black pins baffled me but i got lucky with the first one. Push the centre bit in gently till you feel the first click. The whole black plastic flange will then pull out with the pin still in place. To replace them; push the pin right through, put the flanged bit back in the hole and push the centre pin in from outside again until its flush with the flange.
