Really? They worked well on that while he had it - but then we had nothing to compare them too. Certainly better than the road orientated tyres you see on most off-roaders!

Had a Trooper like that for years, loved it. Just been looking to see if there are any cheap ones on Autotrader / Ebay. GG you are leading me astray!
You know you love it! Get yourself an old 90. I've never had off road fun like I did in the old 90. It was 1986, 44,000 miles only used one day a week to the local shops by a farmer and we just stuck soem Colway remoulds on it and never had much of a problem. It was petrol with an LPG conversion, so not great in water, but we used to pull out landies with 3 inch lifts, big mud pluggers and all the extras in just a bog standard 90.

I'll get one again.

Or you coulf get a disco or old range rover and have the comfort as well. They can all do the same off road but if you get a 90 or 110, it'll still be worth what you pay for it now even if you sell it in 5 years time so long as you look after it!

Oooh, you could get a little Suzuki, stick a lift, some good shocks, steering rods and tyres on it and you could fly around. You'd never get it through Corwen Carwash though....we'd all have to wave you off down the river!

I reckon about 5% of off road drivers use Carmacs.......they are just not as good as most. I always used to use Colway remoulds on the 90 and Range Rover and they were as good as BFG's that were 3 times the price. Towed many a man out that had so called better tyres.

Sticking with remoulds now with the Insa Turbos as Colway went into administration last year, but these seem pretty good. Need to do some proper off road work in them first to find out for myself, but the LR forum I'm on says they're some of the best tyres you can get now.

Carmacs just don't have a good track record and so not many people use them. Look through LRM or LR owners International magazines and you'll be hard pushed to find them in there.

My mate paid £400 for that with a years MOT exactly as you see it there - TDi with 210,000 miles but he put another 20k on it and drove it all over the country - it was superb.

My off-roading currently comes in 1/10 scale - someday I would like to upgrade to 1/1 scale...

Notice the plate I was living in Oz so it had to go Had straight pipes on it - it sounded like a TVR!

I was rebuilding it from a wreck and living in it. I've always promised myself that one day when I can afford it - I'll buy another 3 door and do the restoration I always wanted With the thin nobbly tyres I used to nail every frickin' shogun and land cruiser
