Sorry, i'm in the camp, you choose your speed, not the biker behind you. Definately not entrapment.

on a similar note if you are in the plymouth south hams area be on the lookout for a very dark blue to black estate volvo and a dark blue bmw also estate, they are unmarked cars, the passenger side has two wing mirrors which is a clue but if they are close enough for you to see that it may well be too late!

Wel I ride a bike to have fun on it, if I got caught this way then I have to hold my hand up, after all I'm the one in charge of the throttle. Doesn't mean I wouldn't be miffed though.

The use of unmarked vehicles may or may not be entrapment tactics - depends on circumstance entirely, there emphatically are circumstances where unmarked vehicles are used irresponsibly simply in order to try and provoke an offence that otherwise may not have occurred. Of course it's true to say that had restraint been applied it would not have been an effective tactic, but is this the actions of responsible officers?
The thing that worries me far more is the question: what are the police trying to achieve? If it truly is road safety that's the issue then all traffic vehicles would be clearly marked, a police presence would be apparent and offences might not occur in the first place. Whether or not you subscribe to the view that the police are now only interested in profiteering, the use of some tactics that are not entirely transparent does not assist the attempts to retain and restore public confidence in the motives and practices of the police.

They don't really bother me when riding as I'm too slow anyway and generally let any one on a bike who is behind come past, but unmarked bikes are just another thing that can divert your attention, we already have enough things to look out for with scamera vans, fixed cameras, bloody helicopters and the actual road your riding, without the need for having to decide whether the bike behind is an unmarked bike or just someone out for a blast

These days I mostly see traffic guys heading toward an incident rather than preventing stuff. As fo the entrapment line, well I'd say it was a pretty close call, if you've got to meet targets then what are you going to do? Police should have to go any achieve a certain number of speeding tickets per month, that's whats wrong. After all they're not salesmen, they're law enforcement officials.

You need some unmarked fleet both cars and bikes. If your in a marked traffic style vehicle then the vehicles area around you behave until they can't see you and then carry on their normal style of driving. A unmarked vehicle will let them act as they normally would.
