We have all dropped bikes. Better to get it out of way sooner.

Picking bikes up is all technique.

Bend down, push back against seat and lift. You can even lift some overweight POS like this, like BMW or goldwing or something.
Carol stripped the engine and then did that teeth sucking thing that means I have either broken something expensive or am about to abuse the post man again!

She has ordered a load of parts from M&P, but they got delayed by the Bank Holiday weekend. She has said that with the new bits it will actually be better than when we bought the bike and she is going to teach me how to fit it all when it does finally arrive. Turns out it needed a few extra bits, but (and I know that this sounds lame and girly which is not good for a card carrying dyke like me) I don't know what they are or where they go! She has said though that the important bits are actually ok, so way to go Honda, the CG is indistructable nearly. Judging by the size of the box that is about to arrive, I am wondering if it is going to have a new engine in kit form in it!

As for dropping Silvie, I am just glad it was not out in town where I could be seen looking like a loonie by passers by. Thanks for the tip about lifting. I just hope that by the time I finally manage to get on Silvie, I have not knackered her completely. I really do not want to have to pick her up again.

Bugger the bike, it was only an indie FFS - if you have torn old scars then that's going to be painful, me duck. Hoping all's well.

don't be hard on yourself JF - we've all dropped bikes before, and at least a) it wasn't in public and b) there's v little damage done to the bike. (I'm sure she'll be grateful for your self-sacrifice there!)

Oh and if it's any consolation I can barely pick a bike up - thankfully haven't had to practice too much! It is largely technique, but you do need a good dose of leverage as well and TBH I'd always look for help if it's available.

Hope you GWS anyway! x

Awwwww, thank you every one for your lovely comments.

Good news on the SV front. I picked up a set of mini indicators at a very reasonable price (thanks to staff discount) and just have to find the time to fit them to the bike, they are actually quite sweet, look really dinky and should just plug into the gaps left by the old ones coming off.

Thanks for the offer of bits from folks too, Shelly and Rorshach, you are both stars. Big hugs to you both.

Silvie is a lovely Pointy (ooh I can feel the hate from the Curvy owners! ) and to be honest, I love her to bits. Even Carol, who is a dyed in the wool Kawasaki owner has said lots of nice things about Silvie.

As for me, I was back on the TENS last night and had a quiet day at work thankfully, but had to ask for help a couple of times. I did get laughed at when I told them I had dropped the bike in the garage entrance, but despite a some minor pain I am in good health. I think the healing I have been doing recently has been good and so when I hurt myself, I actually did very little real damage. I can't ask for more than that.

Finally Carol has been a tower of strength as always.

She does not realise it, but she is so good for me, I would be lost with out her. This weekend, three friends of mine split up with their long term partners. I am so lucky that she still has yet to see sense and realise that actually I am a flaky old whatsit. It is her birthday this coming weekend and I have arranged a party for her friends to come and say hello and show her how much she is loved. There may be one or two straight people there, but some how I think they will be in the minority!
