Of all those people preaching that its dishonest and stealing etc, how many of you have ever paid for someting and been given the wrong change in your favour. eg they gave you change for a £20 but you only paid with a £10? Did you correct the shop assistant or did you keep your mouth shut and walk away?

I go back and make sure I get the same assistant..

Actually, I have corrected them if I have been over changed.

Call me old fashioned, but I have morals.

I don't like it when I'm ripped off so don't do it to others.

It's the old "treat others how you would like to be treated" thing.

just to throw a soanner in the works,

lets say my girlfriend works away alot ( lets say shes working abroad, i dunno holiday rep) i brought her a bike,

whilst on holiday she ordered a lock to be delivered,

sed box was delivered, someone else at address signs for it, paperwork says lock, sed person at house puts box in garage for when gf returns to uk in a few months and thinks nothing of it as itsnt going to open something not in their name.

criminal record for not knowing you had a bike?

be intrestening to know how they are going to know considering the invoice says lock,

if they ring and say have you ha d a bike and we say no, got a lock, signed for a lock, what says otherwise?

I have done this in the past (a long time ago), but it's not something I'm proud of (far from it) and I wouldn't consider it now as I value my integrity too much - even if nobody else notices or cares I'm just a lot happier knowing I've done the right thing. That's not to say I always get it right, but I do try.

I had a tiny piece of plastic missing on my washing machine. A bloke came out to fix washing machine for a different problem and while he was there I told him about the piece of plastic that was missing that was causing the washing powder tray to fill up with water. He said he would order one and that it would be sent to my address. Instead of recieving the 50 pence piece of plastic, I recieved two boxes full of various brand new spare parts for various different white goods, probably a couple of hundred quids worth of stuff that I had no use for. I phoned the company and told them about their mistake and they told me to take it to the dump.

I corrected their mistake. I used to work on a checkout I know what its like to get a rollocking because your float doesnt balance up...

Everybody makes mistakes, its part of life. I just would rather correct the mistake rather than carry £10 away from a shop that I wasnt supposed to have.

I do believe in Karma and I also believe in being honest and fair. Like is posted above, "treat others how you would expect to be treated yourself"

At the end of the day if you want to keep the bike well thats your choice, I personally wouldnt do it and I'd send it back. If they told me to keep it then I would, but thats different than just not telling them you have it when its not what you ordered.

You can butter it up, justify it in anyway shape or form at the end of the day, you didnt get what you ordered. I'd suspect that £500 worth of push bike that they are going to notice eventually and that they'd probably like it back...

Your example has confused me (which doesn`t take much!) your comparison is that you buy your girlfriend a bike and she orders a lock and a box arrives that says lock but is actually a bike
