I've had the bike just over a year and, being a relative newbie, I wasn't aware that the clonking sound my forks make was something to perhaps be concerned about!
Anyway, I took it in for the MOT and the chap said that my forks shouldn't clonk, but that it was probably OK because a lot of SVs do it. I must say, I've been riding the bike for a year and the clonk hasn't got any worse. I get a clonk when I compress the forks hard - e.g. when I use the front brake to come to a halt a bit sharpish, or when I go over a pothole. I also feel a "clonk" in my hands at the same time (i.e. referred to the handlebars from somewhere in the forks). What could this be, is it something to worry about and how can I fix it? |

"they all do that Sir, it's a design feature"
at least, most do and if it isn't getting any worse then I wouldn't worry about it. |

I'm not so worried about it, I took the thing to a Suzuki main dealer for the MOT and service (surprisingly, cheaper than any private, local bike mechanics!). |

I have the same problem with mine. I have been told that it is my brake calipers and discs. Been told it isnt a problem.

the clonk is from loading the front up quicker than it can handle. Happens normally under heavy braking or when hitting a bump.
Nothing to be concerned about unless it get worse, then its a case of overhauling or swapping

as far as i understand it, its something to do with the damper rods hitting the oil or something along those lines .... i think

It's normal , when I fitted hagon fork springs "clonk" went and front felt a lot better
But as already mentioned nothing to worry about but would recommend firming up front unless you are a slim jim Cheers Steve
